Inspired by the culture and rituals of Japanese and Nordic bathhouses, this conceptual design for a thermal experience offers a place to refresh your body and reframe your mind. A cafe and lounge welcomes all visitors, creating an ante space for nourishment and preparation.
REST & RESONANCE
A key component of this thermal bath concept is the act of cleansing prior to entry, as it prepares you for the upcoming physical and mental journey.
The locker room is carefully designed to gently guide visitors forward with light and materiality.
The thermal zone is dynamic, playing with materiality, light, shadow, and reflection to inspire exploration.
A cloister of respite surrounds this zone and allows for a period of introspection.
While on the way out, the same locker room flips the materiality of the slats to imply the intended change of outlook as they prepare to engage in the rest of their day.
The natural materials and ambient light of the lounge establish a sense of calm after a wellness experience that may be entirely new to some.
